And this after less than a month in charge of the government. Let us “hope” that all the self-righteous rhetoric spread like fertilizer over the campaign trail drifts back to pile up against the White [...] David Brooks of the NYT has got a problem with how we treated Tom Daschle. What I’m really annoyed by, though, is the withdrawal of Tom Daschle. What are we, a nation of virgins? …This is like firing General Grant in the middle of the Civil War because he was known to have a few drinks. And [...] According to news reports our prospective Secretary of Health & Human Services made over $5 million since being voted out of the Senate in 2004. He did it by teaming up with the former head of YES Networks to, ahem: …[deliver] a collective depth of industry knowledge and expertise that will allow us to pursue unique [...] Sure, owing over $100K in back taxes is bad, but the real problem with the nomination of former Senator Tom Daschle as Secretary of Health and Human Services is that he’s a paid lobbyist for the very industry he would oversee as the Dems work to implement socialized medicine. As a politician, Mr. Daschle often struck [...] Joe Biden made a point that it was patriotic to pay taxes while on the campaign trail. When criticized by Sarah Palin on this point, he added that “Catholic social doctrine” was on his side as well. I guess he felt that giving unto Caesar WAS giving unto God. Now with further revelations that Tom Daschle [...] So far the vetting process for the Obama cabinet has netted the American public over $145,000 in back tax income that would probably never have been collected. That’s $34,000 and change from Mr. Geithner and more than $100,000 from Mr. Daschle. (Anyone feeling sorry for Mr. Daschle after his ouster from the Senate just shy of [...] |
