According to reports, SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor not only likes to legislate from the bench, she also liked to re-try cases from the appellate bench. Rather than simply rule on the procedures and judicial actions of lower court cases, she would often delve into findings of fact; matters beyond the purview of the appellate court. So, [...] The US Supreme Court has overturned a US Appeals Court decision made by Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. The case was that of the New Haven, CT, firefighters vs. the city. The vote was 5-4 with David Souter, who is to be replaced by Sotomayor, voting in the minority. The majority held that race could not [...] Judge Sotomayor trips at LaGuardia Airport and sustains a hairline fracture of her right ankle. She is treated, flies to DC and continues her meeting schedule. No word on whether or not she had sufficient health insurance to meet the need. As quotes begin to emerge from Judge Sotomayor’s past, things become more and more disturbing. She is the living embodiment of President Obama’s belief in “empathy” as the determining factor in jurisprudence, rather than the letter of the law. More to the point, she seems to feel that she will be inherently superior in her decision [...] President Obama has nominated Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice Souter on the US Supreme Court. He was quoted as saying he performed an “exhaustive” process before choosing her, despite the fact that she was the first name to emerge in speculation after Souter announced he would disappear back into well-deserved obscurity.
