The Bayh Withdrawal: An Indictment of Partisan Politics or Simple Cowardice? To the Christie and McConnell Counter-Revolutions and the Scott Brown “Miracle on the Charles” we can now add the Evan Bayh Withdrawal. The 2-term Senator from Indiana declined last week to run again and the announcement reinforced the already-resounding echoes from Massachusetts. The Dems are circling [...] Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey urged the Federal Reserve last July to approve an acquisition to save a struggling bank in his state. He didn’t mention that the banks chairman and vice chairman were big contributors to his political campaign. If the acquisition had been approved, it would have prevented the two executives from losing [...] Last month, Ben Nelson did a TV ad defending his vote on health care. He talks straight to the camera and disses those “who wanted a government takeover.” That sounds like an attack on people who supported the public option, because that’s as close as Congress got to a “government takeover.” You’ll recall that Nelson [...] Here in New Jersey one consequence of the Massachusetts upset is the black eye given to US Senator Bob Menendez, scion of the Hudson County political machine.
