Uncle Joe Biden is swinging back to New Jersey on Wednesday, to appear with Governor Jon Corzine at an AFL-CIO gathering in – where else? – a casino in Atlantic City. The gubernatorial race in NJ is still a crap shoot.
Corzine has managed to cut his deficit behind Republican Chris Christie to 3 pts. according to some polls, and the White House evidently thinks that his candidacy may be salvageable after all. Not so salvageable as to attract the President, but better than it was a month ago.
Besides, the President is back at home licking his wounds after his gleaming reputation acquired some tarnish at the IOC meeting in Denmark. His campaign for Chicago failed. The Second City came in 4th. There were a lot of people in the Windy City who were so sure of their shining prince that they were already gathered in the streets waiting to celebrate. Alas, things turned sour.
