At the Federal level the Obama administration is looking for the government to take over more and more services and thus more and more of the workforce. Bad idea for any number of reasons, but here’s a good one. Despite all the talk about new efficiencies in, say, health insurance, government is intrinsically more expensive.
Trenton, NJ – Governor Chris Christie today signed into law the Fiscal Year 2011 Appropriations Act, enacting a spending plan that closes an unprecedented $11 billion deficit without raising taxes. The budget fulfills Governor Christie’s commitment to make the necessary and tough choices to solve the state’s fiscal crisis, protect the most vulnerable New Jerseyans [...]
Two years after he was shunned by Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida during the state’s Republican presidential primary, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts endorsed Marco Rubio, Mr. Crist’s opponent in Florida’s Republican Senate primary, on Saturday.
The Rubio campaign announced the endorsement on its Web site.
“While I respect Governor Crist, Marco Rubio’s proven record of [...]
While Congressional Quarterly continues to rate the general election contest Safe Democratic, the GOP is devoting more resources in the hopes of stealing the seat. The Brown campaign is also circulating a fundraising letter written by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney who is now living in La Jolla, California. In the letter, Romney touts Brown's [...]

She kept invoking him in her speech, conveying his best regards, and likes to share cute stories about Dad trying to master his new [...]
Here you see Charlie and me in our rightful places: high above the madding crowd, masters of all we survey… Ahem.
Actually, this story goes back to 2006, when I was mayor and Charlie was in his freshman year on the town council. We were the respective liaisons to the two volunteer fire companies [...]
“While the purpose of this trip was an entirely professional and appropriate business development trip, I made a mistake while I was there in meeting with the woman who I was unfaithful to my wife with,” — Governor Mark Sanford
Inappropriate! He should have said,
“…while I was there I made a mistake. I met the woman [...]
So let me get this straight…
We have a guy who slept in his parents’ room as a teenager on Ye Olde Family Plantation, camped out on a cot in the Capitol when he was in Congress and who regularly visited a secret prayer group on “C Street”.
And we are supposed to be surprised when he [...]
The most highly touted potential GOP candidate for the NJ governor’s race next year is former (as of last week) Federal prosecutor Chris Christie. Christie is currently on the rounds of the cable talk shows, weighing in on government corruption. This should be good practice for a campaign here in 2009, since the corruption among [...]
